Seize The Birthday #8

It's time for a new Seize the Birthday challenge already. This week we are using the same sketch as last week, but creating a masculine birthday card.

Here is my card:

I am not a fan of doing "man" cards, but I have to admit I really love the way this turned out. I love dogs and trees, so I guess that's why :) I used some more of the cute digi freebies at Alley Way stamps!

Here is the sketch for this week:

For the month of February we have The Alley Way Stamps as our sponsor.

Alison at the Alley Way is offering a great prize each week this month. This week's prize is the super cute stamp set "Tweet Spots" and it will be mailed to our winner this week, from Alison.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you can join in this week at Seize The Birthday and add to your birthday card stash and maybe even win some cute stamps!

Hugs,

Kay :)

Muse #6

Greetings!

It's time for another Muse challenge! This week Deanna Jean is sharing her beautiful card with us for this week's Muse.

I was pretty much inspired by the colors and the whole fabulous design here, so I chose to just  copy her gorgeous card :)

Most of the stamps are from various Stampin' Up sets. I think the sentiment is an older CTMH stamp.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Hugs!

More Folk Art Fancy

Hello all!

I hope everyone is having a good week. We got more snow last night and today. We have been wanting snow all winter long, and as soon as I decide that I'm over winter and ready for Spring, guess what comes? The snow! haha!

Anyway, a few post back, I was playing with Folk Art Fancy and mentioned that I would be doing some more cards with a pink color scheme. Well, I finished them up and even had them all photographed, but hadn't posted them yet. So here they are! I really love this set and have had so much fun working with it. My Mom has it now. She likes to borrow my stamps after I've created some cards for her to look at for ideas ;)

Thanks so much for stopping by! Hope you have a happy week!

Hugs,

Kay :)

Merry Monday #50

Oh wow! This is my second post for the day! This is the first time I've ever done that!

With the ice and coldness outside, I got a little extra time in the craft room today, so I worked on a few more challenge cards. I was doing this for Merry Monday and Dynamic Duos, but missed the deadline for Dynamic Duos, so it's just for Merry Monday this week! :)

This week they are doing theme and it's elegance....

Now I am not an elegant person at all and that is an understatement! Ha! I am a jeans and t-shirt, hair in the ponytail, chase the dogs around the yard girl. I wasn't even sure how to do an elegant card, but I did attempt. And I like my card very much. I hope it passes for elegant :)
I keep wanting to type elephant! See how elegant I am!! hahahahaha!!

So here goes.... :)

I created the snow hills by sponging ink with a template I created with a piece of paper, but you can't really see them in the photo, which is a really sad thing, as I thought they were neat...
The snowflakes are from Verve
Sentiment from Papertrey Ink
Big tree in the background from Penny Black
The rest are super old and I don't even think the companies are in existence anymore.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Hope you have a fabulous weekend!

Hugs,

Kay :)

Muse and ColourQ

Happy Friday!

We have 2 inches of ice on the ground here, but the sun is shinning and the kids are at present, sliding down the driveway in the swimming pool! I kid you not! By the sound of their screams and laughter, they are having a pretty good time too! They have sleds, but who wants to use a sled when you can both get in the plastic swimming pool with a couple of dogs too eh? haha! They are having a little trouble with the steering though...

Anyway, I am sharing with you, my Muse card for this week and I combined it with the ColourQ challenge too. The colors were so pretty and I was pressed for time this week and knew I couldn't do a card for each, so I combined :)

I used Heart 2 Heart #12 and Fancy Frames from Papertrey Ink.

Here is the Muse card this week.  A pretty summery colored card by Marion Vagg.

I was inspired by the chevrons and the location of her sentiment. Really fabulous card and fun inspiration!

This is the beautiful color inspiration from ColourQ this week!

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you all have a fabulous weekend!

Hugs,

Kay :)

Festive Friday #2

It's time for another challenge at Festive Friday! Oh and I loved this one! It was to create a project with a rustic country theme. Love that! I have been hoarding this piece of background paper from Simple Stories since before Christmas. I LOVE it and I didn't want to use it. I finally broke down and cut it! Yikes! But I still have some smaller pieces to use on something else.... :)

Also, I tied that bow myself! I was so proud! I think I'm getting better at it!

That adorable little tree stamp is from Wplus9. Been saving that one too. So fun to finally use some of my well loved purchases! :)

I got my glasses yesterday! Wooooo! I'm still adjusting to them.... I guess. I can see great for about a 6 foot radius around me, but my distance is blurry now. It's just the opposite then it was. I never had trouble with my distance before, so I'm hoping that is just part of the adjustment and I'll be able to see far away soon...

Anyway, here is the inspiration from Festive Friday! Such a fun inspiration board if you want to play along too!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Hope you have a great day!

Hugs,

Kay :)

Getting to know Fancy Folk Art

Hi all!

Hope everyone has had a nice weekend! I sure have. I played most of the day yesterday and today in my craft room. I have said this before, but when I get a new set of stamps, I like to play with them for several days and make several cards with them and just get to know them a bit. So yesterday I got out Fancy Folk Art from Papertrey Ink. I've had it for a while and been wanting to play with it. Let me tell you, I am in love with this set! Oh it is fabulous! I love stamps that you can layer and stamp different parts in different colors and this set is just perfect for all of that. I had SO much fun playing with it.

I started with blues and browns for my first three cards, but I'm going to use some reds and pinks for my next few. Those I'll post in the next few days.

Anyway, here is what I did :)

And this one is my favorite of the three I do believe :)

Well, that's it for my piddling this weekend! I hope you'll stop by again to see the ones I do with the pinks and reds! I can't wait to ink up that set again!

Have a fabulous week!

Hugs,

Kay :)

CAS(E) This Sketch #15 and The Play Date Cafe

Hello!

It's Friday yet again! I've had that Friday feeling all day and it's great! :)

I made a card for the CAS(E) This sketch challenge and The Play Date Cafe. I loved the colors and the sketch is super too!

Here's my inspiration:

And here is the card I created :)

This is the first time I have tried the negative space thing and I love the way it turned out! The Love die is from Wplus9, the flowers are from Papertrey Ink, and the greenery thing is an ancient stamp that I have had for years, and I don't know what company it's from.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Have a GREAT weekend!!

Hugs,

Kay :)

Seize the Birthday Design Team

OH yes! I am so excited! Lesley at Always Playing With Paper invited me to join the design team at Seize The Birthday. I was so surprised and thrilled to say the least. I have been on many digital scrapbooking creative teams, but this is my very first card making team and I am super excited! Can ya tell :) heheh!

So for the month of February at Seize the Birthday they are featuring the adorable line of stamps by Alley Way Stamps.  If you haven't seen them before you should go check them out. They have some really cute sets!

This week  they are giving this  free set away to the winner of the challenge!

So the way the challenge works at Seize the Birthday is you are given a sketch, and the first week you create a feminine birthday card, then the next week you use the same sketch and make a masculine birthday card. Then we start over with a new sketch. This week we are using the same sketch as last week, only this time we are looking for a masculine birthday card.  Here's the sketch!

And here is my card:

I used some of their cute free digital stamps. I colored them with my Copic markers and cut them out. I embossed the green background with a happy birthday embossing folder.

The design team has some wonderful inspiration for you! Won't you join us and build your stash of birthday cards?!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Hope you have a wonderful rest of the week!

Hugs,

Kay :)

Muse #4

Hello all!

Today was a beautiful day here in the Ozark Mountains! It was cool only in the 40's, but the kiddos talked me into going on a long walk and a picnic with them after school. It was so nice! It was so sunny that I would never have known it was only in the 40's. It felt great!

So after I got home from my walk, I had a little bit of time in my craft room and I had been wanting to get my Muse card done for this week. I love the inspiration card, so warm and tropical. I wanted to do something along those lines. Although I am a winter lover, towards the end of February, I do get to itching for warmer temps and some flowers :)

So here is this weeks Muse card by Therese Calvird. I love the colors. Purple and green have always been a favorite color combination for me. And she did a gorgeous job on her coloring.

And here is my card:

I really had a lot of fun making this card. I did not have any tropical stamps at all and I already had my mind set on a toucan or some type of colorful tropical bird, so I  looked through my cutting files for something that would work. I found this adorable little toucan and these wonderful green leaves. It was exactly what I was looking for. They are  from Lettering Delights. I stamped a few light waves in the background and then layered all of that right on top!  Now I need a margarita! haha!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Hugs,

Kay :)

Merry Monday #49

Happy Monday!

After a super busy week last week, I was finally able to get some time in my craft room to piddle this weekend. Ooooooh it was so nice. I get serious withdrawal if I go too long without making something. One thing that I did this past week though, that I am very happy about is, I went to the eye doctor. It was the first time since I was a small child! I am getting some glasses and I cannot wait! I have been struggling with my eyes for several years now, and wearing those little reading glasses from Wal-Mart. I have a jillion pairs of them lying around the house in various places, but of course never can find them when I want them. I just want to get up in the morning, stick something on my face and not take them off until I go to bed! So not next week, but the next, I should have my new cute little pink framed glasses! I'll be able to see! Yay!

Okay now to the super exciting news! I am so thrilled to be the guest designer at Merry Monday this week! Still pinching myself :)

This week they have a fun sketch that can be interpreted so many ways. I choose to do a square card like the sketch, because I rarely ever do them and thought it would be fun for a change. Luckily I found an envelope that fit! Below is the sketch and what I did with it :) I hope you will join in  the challenge at Merry Monday!

The cute little sled is from Whipper Snapper Designs, the snowflakes and swirl are from Papertrey Ink and the Joy circle is from Close To My Heart. The green paper is from g.c.d. Studios. I got it from Michael's. The red is from my stash of unknown origin :)

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you have a fabulous week!

Hugs,

Kay :)

Muse #3 - Merry Monday #48

Greetings everyone!

This week has been off to a very busy start and I haven't had much time to stamp or make cards... so sad. I did manage to merge two of my very favorite challenges into one card. I love the new Muse Challenge, it's one of my faves and of course Merry Monday I adore. I adore anything to do with Christmas :) So here is what I did with the two challenges.

The Muse card this week is by Laurie Willison. It's such a beautiful springy card. I hope I did her justice as I turned it into a winter card, but I loved the design and it worked great for my Merry Monday card too :) I was inspired by her design obviously, but also loved the beautiful color combination, which I totally did not use....

Here is the inspiration for the Merry Monday Challenge. It was a color scheme.

Very different from what I think of for a Christmas card, but I have to say, I do like my card :)

The snowflakes and swirls stamps are from Papertrey Ink. The mittens are from Stampin' Up! The blue paper is from Bo Bunny and the orange is from the unknown origin stash :)

Hope you have a wonderful rest of the week! Thank you so much for stopping by!

Hugs,

Kay :)

Festive Friday #1

Hello all!

Hope everyone had a nice restful weekend!

I am so excited to share this challenge with you today. It's brand new and this is the first one. It's all about creating Christmas projects through out the year, so that you are not bombarded right at the busiest time of the year trying to get cards and other projects done. If you want to take a peek or join in, it's at Festive Friday Blog. The design team there has made some really gorgeous samples.

I am all over that as I love Christmas projects all year long, and right now I am especially still loving them, because I am not over this past Christmas yet. I have new Christmas stamps I haven't even played with yet. And it's still cold outside! I can't put up my snowflakes and snowmen just yet!

Anyway, this first challenge is a color challenge using only red, white and silver. I had no idea where I was going to get silver as I am not a metallic kind of girl :) But I all of a sudden remembered getting a pack of silver paper free with something, so viola! I had my silver! Yay!

So here is the beautiful inspiration swatch for the challenge:

And here is my card with my swanky silver paper in there :)

The paper is from Recollections. The swanky silver stuff is from Stampin' Up! The ornament stamp and die are from Stampin' Up! The poinsettia is a Spellbinders die and the sentiment is from Papertrey Ink. The lacey doily I cut out with my Cameo.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Hugs,

Kay :)

Sew Special

Hello!

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! I sure have. I have had time to piddle and that is my most favorite thing to do. I am not sure what Webster's definition of piddling is, but in my book is it definitely not a waste of time. It is doing whatever you want to without any pressure, deadlines or expectations. Also without it being tied to any future agenda. You know, not working towards any kind of goal. Just being in the moment and having fun. I did that today and it was nice.

Spent most of the day in my crafty room. When hubby called today on his way home, he asked me what I did today. I told him I made a card. He said "A card"? Like only "one" card? All day?? I had to explain to him about piddling and the fact that I had been coloring and that it takes some time to color. I don't think he understands... Oh well!

So here's the cute little card that I piddled with today. It's an adorable digital stamp from Birdy Brown and you can even grab it free from her blog. I really love her cute style. So being as it was a digi stamp, I just opened it up in Photoshop and added some cute digi papers in the top of the cushy part and the sentiment underneath. I then printed it out and colored the rest with my Copics adding some shadows to the paper pieced part also. That adorable little bow on top is a die from Lil Inkers. I love it being as I am bow tying challenged :)

Thank you all so much for stopping by!
Hope you have a wonderful week and find time to piddle :)

Hugs,

Kay :)

CAS(E) this Sketch #13

Happy Friday!

Hope you all are having a great day! It's been a busy one for me. The past few days have been so busy that I have not had the time to play in my craft room and do some of the challenges that I wanted to this week. That's not right....

Anyway, this is my first time participating in the CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge. It looks like so much fun! I loved the sketch this week and the cards the design team made were very inspiring.

I've been playing around with one of my stamp sets I got for Christmas, Strawberry Patch from Papertrey Ink. I love anything strawberryish. I don't know if it's the colors or what, but strawberries are just so cute.  When I get a new set of stamps, I have to familiarize myself with them. I like to look at them, smell them, hold them and then make about six cards with them. Then I feel like I know them personally.  Well I now know Strawberry Patch personally. We're big buddies! :D So I decided to use this set for my challenge sketch.

Here is the inspiration:

And here is what I did with it :

As I said above, the stamps are Strawberry Patch from Papertrey Ink. The swirl is Fancy Flourishes also from Papertrey Ink. The paper was from my stash of unknown origin :)

Thanks so much for stopping  by! Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Hugs,

Kay :)
