The Cutting Edge Challenge #11

I hope everyone is enjoying the weekend!

It's time to share the next Cutting Edge Challenge!  We have another inspiration project, this one done by Melania! Isn't it cute?!

Now I didn't have any stamps or dies that had anything to do with camera's or cheese, and I am really on a big snowglobe kick right now. You don't know that, because you can't see the 10 snow globe cards I have sitting on my shelf in my craft room. ;) But yes, I'm loving snow globes right now, and I'm ready for Christmas, so I made a Christmas card! Yay!

Now I did some special stuff to this card that I don't normally do. I heat embossed and I blended some dye ink. When I first started stamping some 20 something years ago, I though embossing was the coolest thing ever! Then after embossing everything I could get my hands on for several years, I grew to really not like embossing at all, and I haven't done it for years...seriously. I have just recently seen so many pretty things embossed that I have reconsidered it, and here is my first embossing in many years. I couldn't even believe that my old heat gun still worked. It kind of smelled funny, but it still worked! haha!

Anyway, I embossed those white snowflakes on that strip with Versa mark and clear embossing powder, then I blended ink over it. I don't have any distress inks... yet, so I just used dye ink. I'm rethinking the distress ink thing too. I've seen way too many pretty backgrounds done with them, and now I might have to get some of those too. Said I wouldn't go there.... Anyway, I then randomly stamped a few snowflakes around.

I colored and cut my cute little snow globe and santa with Copics and popped them up with foam tape. Then cut out the fabulous new wet paint joy die from PTI and adhered it flat to the card.

  • Stamps: Winter Snow Globe-PTI, Snowflake Flurries- PTI, In The Meadow-PTI
  • Dies: Wet Paint Holiday die- PTI, Stitched border die- My Favorite Things
And because I know someone is going to ask, here is a photo of my snow globe cards sitting up there on my shelf with all of my little Halloween decorations! haha!

Festive Friday Challenge #41

Hello my friends!

Another week has flown by again, it is Friday already and  time again for another challenge at Festive Friday!

Here is the inspiration photo for this time. Isn't that pretty! Oh I love snowy wintery things!

Well I was limited when it came to sleds in my stamping stash, but I just recently acquired this adorable sled and tree stamp set from Simon Says! Oh it was just perfect!

First I cut out and mounted a very cool piece of background paper to my white card base. I couldn't believe how perfect that paper was! Next I cut out a white snow hill and glued it down. Then I  stamped the sled, tree, and darling little bird, and colored them with my Copic markers, then cut them out with the matching dies and mounted them with foam tape. I really like how this turned out, so cold and wintery :)

  • Supplies:
  • Stamps: Home for The Holidays from Simon Says Stamps, Sentiment- Papertrey Ink
  • Dies: Stitched rectangle and stitched snow hill from Lawn Fawn.
  • Paper: Very cool background paper - Winter Wishes from Echo Park

I hope you will play along with us at Festive Friday!

Papertrey Ink Blog Hop

It is time for another blog hop at Papertrey Ink!

Just look at this gorgeous inspiration photo they provided this time! I really had a hard time deciding which direction to go with this one.

I didn't know if I wanted to do something fallish or winterish. I just started messing around with stamps and colors and I ended up with something more winterish.

I first sponged a little bit of grey on the background so that my white snowflake would show up just a bit more. Then I stamped and die cut all the pieces and adhered them with foam tape. Everything is from Papertrey Ink.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I'll be back tomorrow with some Holiday goodness for Festive Friday!

Poppystamps and Cardmaker Magazine Blog Hop

Note: This is my second post for today. If you are looking for my Festive Friday post scroll down :)

Hello my friends!

I have some exciting news! I am one of the new design team members for Poppystamps! You all know how much I love dies, so this is a thrill for me!

Today we are hopping along with Cardmaker magazine! If you are following the hop you will have arrived  from Mae's blog hereIf you'd like to start from the beginning you can find a list of all the designers here

For my card I used two stunning dies from Poppystamps, the Big Bubble Background and Mod Snowflake Background. Both of these stamps work together. It's so fun because you can fill in the circles with different colored card stocks and have the snowflakes as an overlay!

I first die cut the background from the Mod Snowflake Border, then cut out three more of them in the colors you see on my card. I then inserted all the different colors in the cut out sections from the first one I cut. Next I cut out the Mod Snowflake background and adhered this over the top. Next I added the stitched border piece across the card and the die cut sentiment.

Poppy Stamps will be hosting a giveaway of a die set to one winner on their blogPrizes shown below are 1084 Leaf Silhouette, and 1031 Thank You Background dies. To be eligible to win these beautiful dies, just leave comments on the blogs along the way in the hop. One winner will be chosen and posted  on the Poppy blog on 9-29!

Your next stop on the hop will be Yvonne.

I hope you enjoy seeing all the beautiful cards created with Poppystamps dies!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Hugs,

Kay :)

Card Concept #19

Hello my friends!

It's time for another fabulous challenge at The Card Concept!

This weeks challenge is to create a card inspired by this lovely fall photo and beautiful colors. Oooh doesn't that make you feel all cozy fallish!

Well, I recently acquired the cutest little treat bag dies ever from Reverse Confetti, So instead of making a card, I had to make a little fall treat bag!

I'm totally addicted to these little treat totes! They are SO fun to make and turn out so cute! I have already made a ton of them. Don't have any idea what I'm going to do with all of them, but I'm ready for something! haha!

I cut out and assembled the tote and added the patterned paper to the front. I cut out the little scalloped border and added the banner with the sentiment on top.  I then cut out the leaves in the different colored papers, adhered them with foam tape, added that fabulous little bow, (I'd have bought the whole die set for that one little bow!) and a tiny button on top. Cuteness! I think I'll fill this one with candy corn!

The Cutting Edge Challenge #10

I hope everyone is enjoying the weekend! Yesterday we never got out of the 50's! It was magical! My daughter and I decorated the house with all of our fall decorations and then put a pumpkin pie Scentsy in the melter! Oh I love it!

It's time to share the next Cutting Edge Challenge!  We have another inspiration project, this one done by Jean!

Let yourself be inspired by Jean's  card, and create a card that includes die cutting (all forms accepted).
 Here's what I did:

Festive Friday #40

Hello my friends!

Another week has flown by again, it is Friday already and  time again for another challenge at Festive Friday!

Here is the inspiration photo for this time. I have to admit, I was very inspired by this photo, mostly because it has pink in it, and I love pink at Christmas time!

Here is what I did with it:

I wanted my card to look a little bit vintage and victorian, so I stamped the lacy border on my white panel first, then added the strip of patterned paper to the edge. I paper pieced the cute little Paper Smooches ornaments, added a little bit of shading with my Copic markers and popped them up with foam tape. For the hangers I just cut thin strips of black card stock, glued them down and added the little bows. Lastly I stamped the sentiment at the bottom.

Supplies:
Stamps: Ornaments- Paper Smooches, Lacy border- Recollections, Tiny bows- Lawn Fawn, Sentiment- Lawn Fawn.
Dies: Ornaments- Paper Smooches, Tiny bows- Lawn Fawn

I hope you will play along with us at Festive Friday!

I hope you all have a safe and happy weekend!

NBUS Challenge #2

Well the fun loving, oh so entertaining, Miss Darnell has reached another milestone with her followers, bringing her up to a whopping 600 now! Wow! So she's having her second NBUS challenge! If you live under a rock ( I sometimes do) and don't know who Darnell is, check out her blog HERE. She's just one of the funnest blogging friends I have!

The only rule you have to follow is to use your NBUS - never before used schtuff, which I have plenty of....

Darnell set a little side option you can follow if you want:

  1. Christmas
  2. Make two cards using the same stamp.
  3. Both of the above.
  4. None of the above.

I liked her side option. I chose to do #3, because I love making Christmas cards, and I thought it would be fun to do two cards with the same stamp/stamps.

So here's what I came up with!

I did my first card in pretty traditional Christmas colors.

And my second one in soft wintery colors. I've always love blues and browns together.

I followed a fun tutorial by Danielle Flanders found here to make the neat off the edge cuts. I wanted to do this for Make It Monday when it first came out, but didn't have the time. I thought it worked out so fun with the snowflakes!

For the NBUS part, I used Festive Flurry stamp set and matching dies from Stampin' Up. I've had these since last fall and never used them.

I won't go into how I created these cards, because you can just watch Danielle's video. I did exactly as she did just using the snowflakes instead of apples :)

Supplies:
Stamps: Festive Flurry- Stampin' Up, Snowflake Flurries- PTI, Happiest of Holidays - PTI
Dies: Festive Flurries- Stampin' Up

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Have a great rest of the week!

Hugs,

Kay :)
