Festive Friday #45 Reminder

Hello, Happy Friday! While you all are out shopping and braving the Black Friday crowds, I'm at home preparing  for another Thanksgiving dinner. This time it's with my side of the family. I'm making the pumpkin pies and rolls. Thank goodness my Mom brings the turkey. I've never cooked a turkey before, and I'm plenty old enough people. There's no excuse. But as long as I don't have to... I will leave that to the the ones who know what they're doing :)

This is just a friendly reminder that there is still time to join in the  challenge at Festive Friday! This will be our last one for the year, so you don't want to miss it ;)

Here is the inspiration photo for this time. Isn't that Lovely?  Pink.... lovely pink.

And in keeping with the pink theme here is what I created.

And, this is my very favorite kind of card to make, a little bit of this and a little bit of that. I just stamped and cut out a lot of different elements and played around with my composition until I got it like I wanted and glued it all down, some with foam tape and some just flat.

Supplies:
Mat- Waltzing Mouse
Sentiment- Waltzing Mouse
Tree- Papertrey Ink
Ornaments- My Favorite Things
Stitched circle die- My Favorite Things
Flag die- Papertrey Ink

I hope you will play along with us at Festive Friday!

Happy Thanksgiving and Paper Smooches

Happy Thanksgiving my American friends! I hope you are all looking forward to or recovering from a wonderful Thanksgiving feast!

We are at my husband's family's house today celebrating the holiday with them, then tomorrow we will be at our house with my side of the family.

I thought I needed a special post to celebrate the holiday, so I decided to post a card I did for the November Paper Smooches release. I really love the way this card turned out. If you have been following my blog for some time, then you know of my own-going love affair with birch trees. Well, these Paper Smooches ones, were my very first and still hold a special place in my heart :)

This was done on watercolor paper. I sponged distress ink on a piece and spritzed with water, then added the watercolored birch trees to that piece. I then cut a circle out of another piece of watercolor paper and added that on top with foam tape. I cut the welcome and Christmas words out and layered them three times for dimension and glued them down.  I added the little cardinal with foam tape.

I hope you all enjoy your day! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Today the Card Concept Challenge is joining with  Tracey McNeely and her fabulous 25 days of Christmas tags!

Here is the inspiration for The Card Concept Challenge. So all you have to do to play along is create a tag with a snowman!! How fun!! I love tags! I love snowmen!

Here's what I did!

I just can't get enough of this little Paper Smooches snowman!! I have fallen head over hills! I used watercolor paper for my whole thing here. I cut the tag, the snowbank, and the snowflake out of watercolor paper. I sponged a little Pine Needles distress ink on the tag and spritzed. Then I watercolored the little snow guy, cut him out, and added him to the tag with some foam tape. Lastly, I stamped the sentiment on the snowbank, and added a little bow at the top!

Supplies:
Stamps: Snow Dudes- Paper Smooches, Sentiment- Paper Smooches
Dies: Tag shape- Paper Smooches, Snowflake- Paper Smooches
Paper: Canson cold press watercolor paper

Papertrey Ink November Blog Hop

Hello! I am joining the Papertrey Ink November Blog Hop today with a card I made featuring one of my favorite things, snow! I know I could have been more creative and made a shaker card or something fancy with glitter and sequins and such, but I was pressed for time, and put this quaint little snow scene together this morning while trying to do a hundred other things at the same time! Haha!

I keep thinking, well as soon as I get this done I can relax... it never seems to happen, more stuff comes along. Oh well, it's all good and a lot of it fun :)

So here's my snowy card!

For a country girl I sure do love the City Scene stamp set from Papertrey Ink. It is one of my very favorites! I just love all those tall buildings! So cute!

I just stamped some little snowflakes from In The Meadow, and sponged some inks over that to create my snowy background. I added a snowdrift and stuck the little buildings and trees just under the edge. I then added the white panel with the circle cut out over that, and then added the snow die cut with foam tape, and stamped "much fun" under that.

Papertrey Ink Products:
City Scene stamp set and dies
In The Meadow Stamp Set
Wonderful Words Snow stamp set and die

I also have a really cute card up on the Poppystamps blog today. If you want to feel warm and cozy after looking at my snowy card, you need to go take a peek! It was not a quick and easy one, but it was super fun to put together!

Thank you all so much for stopping by!

Hugs,

Kay

The Cutting Edge Challenge #15

It's time to share the next Cutting Edge Challenge!  We have another inspiration project, this one done by Amy!  Just be inspired by the card in the photo, to create your own card using any form of die cutting you'd like :) I am so sad to say that this will be the last Cutting Edge Challenge. I have enjoyed being on this team so much and am so thankful to Jackie for inviting me. It will be missed.

I very rarely use black on any card except for maybe Halloween, but I have seen  some really pretty Christmas cards incorporating black into the color scheme, so I wanted to try that myself.

I cut out the patterned papers with the stitched dies from My Favorite Things and glued them down to my stitched white mat. The holly and bow, I cut out with my Silhouette Cameo and adhered them with foam tape. I slipped the red snowflake just under the edge of the holly leaves and added the sentiment the same way.

  • Dies: Stitched Rectangles- Lawn Fawn, Stitched strips- My Favorite Things
  • Stamps: Snowflake-Papertrey Ink, Sentiment- Waltzing Mouse
  • Cutting Files: Holly and bow are from the Silhouette Store

We’d love to have you play along with us! If you click on through to The Cutting Edge Challenge Blog, you’ll find lots of information, including:
  • The Winner of the last challenge, as well as the Top 3, are being announced;
  • The Cutting Edge Design Team is sharing their samples for the challenge, and they are pretty fabulous;
  • The InLinkz link-up tool for you to link up YOUR project!

This challenge will close on  Thursday, Thu Dec 4th EDTso what are you waiting for?!  You can find everything you need to play along HERE.  We can’t wait to see what you create!!

Festive Friday #45

Hello, Happy Friday! It's time again for another challenge at Festive Friday!

Here is the inspiration photo for this time. Isn't that Lovely? It has pink in it :) Did you see that? Pink....

I honed right in on that pink and created this cute little Christmas tree with pink ornaments!

I used this adorable little Christmas set from Lawn Fawn that I have had from last year and never used. I was just waiting for the right time. ;) First I covered my whole A2 card base with that pretty pink paper. I stamped the sentiment and cut out another white panel just a bit smaller than the card base. Next I stamped, and colored the tree and all the ornaments with Copic markers, and cut them out with the matching dies. Lastly I added them to the white panel with foam tape and then added the whole white panel to the card base with foam tape.

  • Supplies:
  • Stamps:Trim The Tree-Lawn Fawn, Deck The Halls- Lawn Fawn
  • Dies: Stitched rectangle- Lawn Fawn.

I hope you will play along with us at Festive Friday!

Paper Smooches Cool Dudes

It's been cold here! We've been waking up to single digits for almost a week now. Guess what? I love it! I'm one of those weird ones who loves cold weather. It's kind of strange for someone who was born and raised in Florida. It really puts me in a Christmassy mood :)

So I wanted to share one of my design team projects for Paper Smooches this month using the November release.

I love anything snowman and Kim at Paper Smooches draws the cutest snowmen ever!
I used the new Squared Die for the background. I cut it out of white card stock and also out of several sheets of patterned paper from Doodlebug Designs. I then added the cut outs from the patterned paper back into the white one. I adhered that all down to my card base and stamped the sentiment. I then colored the cute little snow couple with Copic markers, cut them out and added them with foam tape to the die cut circle and then to the card.

Festive Friday Reminder

Friday has rolled around again faster than ever and it's time again for another challenge at Festive Friday!

Here is another look at the beautiful inspiration this time around.

And here is what I came up with the second time around!

This time I created my own little wreath with some little pine branches from Lawn Fawn. I first embossed the background with a snowflake folder from Taylored Expressions. I cut out the white stitched panel and added the red patterned paper across it at an angle. Then I stamped, cut out, and assembled my wreath and adhered it to the panel with foam tape. I added the sentiment and the little red snowflakes.
  • Supplies:
  • Stamps:Deck The Halls-Lawn Fawn
  • Dies: Stitched rectangle- Lawn Fawn, Stitched strip- My Favorite Things
  • Snowflake Embossing folder-Taylored Expressions

The Card Concept #23

It's time for another fabulous challenge at The Card Concept!

This weeks challenge is to create a card inspired by this lovely photo using kraft and keep it Christmasy ;)

I love doing landscape cards, and my favorite, of course, is winter :) So I broke out the snowy hills and some pretty deer, and this is what I came up with!

First thing I did here was stamp that lovely winter tree in VersaMark ink and emboss it with white embossing powder. Next I stamped the faint little trees you see in the background with some Natural dye ink from My Favorite Things. Next I cut out the snow hills and adhered them with foam tape and added the deer with foam tape as well. Lastly I stamped the sentiment.

  • Supplies:
  • Stamps: Snow Dust-Penny Black, Trees in background- "Old" PSX, Deer-In The Meadow-Papertrey Ink
  • Dies: Stitched Rectangles- Lawn Fawn, snow hills- My Favorite Things,

This challenge will end on Monday, November 24 at Noon (PST).
Stop by and see what the other designers have created and  I hope you'll join us for the challenge at The Card Concept!

Thanks so much for stopping by! :)

Kay :)
